Ryan E. Cox
Originally from Knoxville, Tennessee, Ryan is a ninth-generation East Tennessean. Before joining Jones King, P.C., in June of 2024, Ryan served as in-house counsel to a regional, independent trust company based in Knoxville, Tennessee, where he focused on estate and trust administration and real estate management and transactions.
Ryan earned his Juris Doctor from Lincoln Memorial University, Duncan School of Law, graduating summa cum laude. While at LMU, Ryan was elected by the student body as President of the Student Bar Association. He also served as Managing Editor of the LMU Law Review and was selected by the Dean for membership in the Hamilton Burnett American Inn of Court. While in law school, Ryan clerked for the Civil Division of the United States Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of Tennessee.
Prior to law school, Ryan graduated summa cum laude from The University of Tennessee with a degree in political science. During his undergraduate studies, he clerked in Nashville, Tennessee, for Lieutenant Governor Randy McNally and House Speaker Bill Dunn. Ryan also interned in Washington, D.C., for former Congressman Diane Black (TN-05).
Ryan is a member of the Tennessee Bar Association, the American Bar Association, and the Bristol Bar Association.
Ryan serves on the Board of Directors of the Halls Alumni Association, Inc., a non-profit that awards annual scholarships to graduating seniors at Halls High School. He resides in Bristol, Tennessee, with his wife, Alexis Raye.
